Sweet, Simple Saturday ~ Job 38

"From out of a storm, the Lord said to Job:
Why do you talk so much when you know so little?
Now get ready to face me!  Can you answer the questions I ask?
How did I lay the foundation for the earth?
    Were you there?"

“We are so little, that if God should manifest His greatness without condescension, we should be trampled under His feet; but God, who must stoop to view the skies, and bow to see what angels do, turns His eye yet lower, and looks to the lowly and contrite, and makes them great.”
~ Charles H. Spurgeon

Have a blessed and beautiful weekend ♥

Thanksgiving by the Seashore

{Spoiler Alert: This post does not contain chickens or a pig or a long gravel road.  It's a little shocking, I know.}

For as long as I can remember, we have been spending our Thanksgivings at the beach.  Sunshine on our faces, sand between our toes, salt air in our hair.  It's the highlight of the year, really, and so perfectly divine.  My dad farms through the spring, summer...ok, he farms all year long, but in the fall he is able to get away for a few extra days, so we've always taken our family vacations in the fall.  We load up, drive to the beach, and spend a few days under the same roof enjoying one another, playing by the ocean, remembering what it's like to relax, and forgetting about everything else.  There are Christmas movies to watch, coffee to drink, thanks to be given.

Emerald Isle, you are my home away from home {minus my small farm}.

My dad {a.k.a. Paw Paw}

Mom {Biggi}

{Tattoo creds go to Biggi ;) ~ good job, Bigs}

Beaufort ~ I am determined to have a boat here one day (at least in my dreams...)

There was crazy weather (hello tornado warnings, rain, freezing temps) but I wouldn't have wanted to spend Thanksgiving anywhere else.  I am thankful for so many blessings, but especially these two pieces of me who enjoy every adventure we take with such refreshing innocence and genuine enthusiasm...and maybe a few tantrums, but we choose not to focus on those ;) ♥

We hope you all had a wonderful week and a happy Thanksgiving!

Give Thanks Always

"Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ..." ~ Ephesians 5:20

Each and every day, all the year long, there is always, always something for which to be thankful.  Always blessings to be praised.  Because no matter how difficult or frustrating or overwhelming the day-to-day can be, God is so faithful.  God is so good.

"As I live in awareness of, growth in, and gratitude for God's grace and mercy,
my life will bring glory to Him."
~ Sandy Smith

From our family to yours, have a blessed and beautiful Thanksgiving! ♥

"Some Pig"

I've come to the conclusion that one of the many awesome things about being a parent is that I get to live out some of my own dreams with my girls.  Because they like my ideas, and they go along with me, and when their cute little selves beg daddy for something, I they usually get it ;)  I really like having these girls on my side...

So, we decided that our little "Half-Acre Home on the Range" was missing something...

Meet Annabelle.  The adorable, polka dot, pot belly pig who has run away with our hearts.

I have always talked about getting a pig.  I think they're cute.  I just do.  I used to joke that one was just going to have to wander into our yard one day because there would be no other way we would get one.  Turns out, our guy just wants us to be happy and likes to see us get what we want.  So, I told him we were going to see a girl about a pig...and the rest, is history.

Love. at. first. sight. ♥

To quote my super awesome hubby who never ceases to amaze me, "You and your farm animals...she is kinda cute."  He totally gets me.

She's already part of the family.  When she's happy or hears our voices, she wags her tail.  You can't help but smile.  The girls just giggle and laugh when she snorts and runs around in circles.

I like to say she fits right in with all of us.  My zoo crew.  My farm fam.

Annabelle the Polka Dot Pig ~ whatever did we do without you?
{and I just want to say a special thank you to my dear friend Peggy who found the little pig, and to Annabelle's previous human Nathalie for raising such a sweet piggy and providing us the opportunity to have and love her}

~~~
The first ladies of our little home on the range are doing well and just keep growing.
They are such beautiful birds.  They still haven't started laying yet, but we are eagerly waiting :)
Meal worms from little hands are always a favorite.
Do you ever just look around and feel so richly blessed?  We LIVE in and on every single inch of house and land we have, and my goodness, we are so thankful.  My heart just explodes.
There is so much beautiful life that we get to love, nurture, and enjoy.  The girls are learning how to love and take care of some of God's creatures, and we're spending time together along the way.
"Whether sixty or sixteen, there is in every human being's heart the lure of wonder, the unfailing child-like appetite of what's next, and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station; so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long are you young."
~ from "Youth" by Samuel Ullman
We hope you're having a beautiful weekend!
