Our Feet do the Walking, Our Pictures do the Talking

Sharing some of my favorite photos from the week for
Wordless Wednesday & Insta-Friday.
All photos taken with my iPhone 4 and edited/filtered through Snapseed and/or Instagram (because my "real" camera is usually in the closet).

Sometimes, no words are needed :)

The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace."

Something Thrifted, Something Blue ~ Two Colorful Makeovers

Sometimes, we just like to do things for the fun of it.  There is no rhyme or reason.  Just the simple fact that we want to spread a little paint and cheer.  On a cool, cloudy Saturday morning, after my girls were bouncing off of the walls and furniture and trying to jump rope in the house, I decided it was time to move those little balls of energy outside...with a few bottles of paint.

I had picked up this old wooden chair at a local thrift store for a few dollars.  Let me just say, I love thrift stores.  The hubby...not so much because I am always bringing home stuff like this.  And our house is kinda small.  But no worries.  I had big, outdoor plans for this :)

I had thought about painting it a bright, solid color and placing it on our porch for additional outdoor seating.  But that wasn't quite enough.  I wanted the girls to be part of the project.  They love painting and had energy to burn, so I turned them loose and let them create their own masterpiece.

I know I'm biased, but I think it's the greatest thing ever :)  They had so much fun!  The paint was brushed on so thick in some places, I didn't think it would ever dry.

A few days later, I was looking at this old, stained TV stand that the hubby and I have had since our wedding (at least I think so...it's been so long, I can't remember when we got it).  I decided to save it and paint it, too.  Because we love bright colors and making old things new.

I picked up a new can of spray paint from Lowe's.  There are so many great colors, but I am always drawn to the turquoise.  I really think this is the exact same color I used for the school desk makeover here.

So, after a couple of days of painting our hearts out, this is what we ended up with:

One more "after" picture in all it's Instagrammed loveliness:

This was a team effort.

All the colors and fun make this mama's heart happy ♥
Our little carport (which is really more like an outdoor play room) just got a little bit brighter!

Have a colorful, beautiful day!

Sweet, Simple Saturday ~ The Horse

We visited the home of some dear friends and their lovely horses.  I couldn't help but devote a post to them! :)

Of all of God's awesome creations, the magnificent horse has to be one of my favorites (and my daughter's, too) ♥

Have a blessed and beautiful weekend!

A Happy Birthday to My Big Girl!

Our first baby girl turns 6 today!  I can't believe I just typed that.  I remember the first night we brought her home from the hospital and took turns walking her up and down the hall.  We were brand new parents with this special little life God had entrusted us with.  I still feel so overwhelmed and unworthy that he chose us to be her parents, but I am SO, SO thankful that He did! :)

She is our free spirit, our plant whisperer, our animal lover.  Her imagination is only exceeded by the size of her heart.  She is so full of love, life, laughter, and all kinds of sweetness.  She is a beautiful and amazing gift!

Happy Birthday to our big girl!

We love you so much ♥

Adventures in Gardening ~ Part 3

See how our garden began with these earlier posts:

We finally planted our seedlings!  After raising them in our dining room windowsill, checking on them each day, and even singing them a few songs, we finally got them in the ground!  We also planted other seeds, such as carrots, radishes, lettuce, beans, and cucumbers.

Honestly, I bought three different gardening books this year in hopes of actually having a successful garden.  I would love nothing more than to grow a good portion of the food we eat (at least during the summer months).  I was going to plot and plan, and everything was going to be perfect.  Except, I had two little helpers with adorable little hands who wanted to be in the middle of everything (literally).  I kind of had an epiphany as I was working to dig a perfect spot for a certain seed when excited, adventurous little girls with their own plastic shovels started digging away beside me.  Sometimes, as mom, I just have to throw out the rule book.  I want them to remember these moments as enjoyable and unforgettable.  I want them to feel as if this is their garden, too.  So...I gave them their own spots and their own seeds and let them dig right in!

This one is still in her pajama pants.  Perhaps that helps...

And not so surprisingly, we have all kinds of beautiful things popping up!
My little green-thumbed girls :)

So, we are by no means master gardeners.  This is not a tutorial, and we will not be writing a "How To" book anytime soon.  But these are memories, good times, and perhaps, eventually, our own homegrown foods :)

Do you have a garden?  How's it coming along?

~ Happy Growing :) ~
